From the website:

The MA Digital Games programme is unique and innovative in many ways, and since the course began in 2000, we have set a precedent for the academic study of digital games. The course combines a theoretical and practical approach to teaching the art and design aspects of game development whilst embracing key issues related to production and project management. Students are also exposed to theories of 'gameplay', and to the cultural and social issues surrounding video games to understand the ways in which games are viewed in a wider context.

The programme is extremely successful in preparing graduates for immediate employment in the games industry as 3D environment artists, level designers, texture artists, character designers and animators. Many of our past students are now working for leading UK developers on released and soon to be released AAA titles.

However, the course not only provides excellent employment routes; it is also an opportunity to engage in serious research into the subject area. We strongly believe that digital games are one of the most significant cultural forms of our time and this underpins our approach throughout.
