Sounds like the game is made with Macromedia Director. The 2nd game in the Journeyman Project Trilogy (a series of sci-fi FPS MYST-ish GAGs I need to pick up when the cash flow improves) was originally made for the Macintosh with Macromedia Director, but then had to be recoded in Visual C++ for the PC version for some reason.

A lot of GAGs have a Simon-style puzzle... Not only do they suck for players that are deaf or hard of hearing, it also isn't very good for those who are tone deaf.
