Similar effects, but certainly less granular, I expect, than Twilight Princess. For example, when you hang out in Hyrule field during the day, there's a distinctly cheerful melody, then when an enemy engages link, it shifts smoothly into the combat music. If I recall correctly, it's signaled by a low cello ostinato and then swells into the full combat theme. Returning back to the "happy" music is similarly smooth. So in that case you only get two states (or three if you count the night sound effects) that are clearly distinct and have only a little overlap. It's just enough to make them sound like they're part of the same composition, though.
