That's interesting. Also according to the IGJA style guide wiki: http://www.igja.org/wiki/index.php?title=Videogame, the compound version "videogame" seems to be preferred when it's used as an adjective. So if I read that right, it would be correct to say "videogame criticism," but not "I'm playing a videogame."

Ralph Baer, at least, does use the term in the latter way, but I didn't consider how people use it in my chart above.
